A message from Barney

Happy Snow Day!!! Yes we are having a snow day in beautiful northwestern Wisconsin (Monday March 13)...Please excuse the mix up in chapters ( I really do know how to count right!)...Because this is self paced , I will try to respond generally every so often so please go back and check from time to time ...especially to read others ideas...I think a great benefit of this class is the neat ideas you get from others...Not everyone is on yet and we have two new students joining us so check out the introductions as well...Thanks Barney

Transcripts

On the last day of class, I will send in grades. St Thomas will then send you notification of your grade and THEN YOU MAY SEND IN FOR YOUR TRANSCRIPTS! They get ornery if you do it before. If you have any conflicts, please let me know. Thanks. Barney

Final Project

Pick out a unit that you want to teach shortly after this class is over and design it using all the information you have learned. Please include the use of all the multiple intelligences. If you want more information on multiple intelligences, please let me know and I will send you what you need. You may create this unit on your district's template or any format you wish. I would like to share these with other teachers I work with so if you DO NOT want me to do that, please let me know. Finally, PLEASE SEND THE UNITS TO ME AT 936 LINDEN AVE ...RICE LAKE 54868... and then post a summary of what your unit is about so if others want a copy you can send it to them...Thanks...PS...THE PROJECT IS DUE APRIL 22

Chapter 1

Answer the 3 questions.

Questions that you should answer for each chapter.

1. If the things you have just read are true about the brain and how we learn, what should we be doing differently in our classrooms and schools? In what ways might you suggest we start making the changes needed if we are to meet the needs of all students?

2. In what ways might you translate the principles presented in the chapter into practical, everyday, useful, methods of teaching?

3. If you were to plan your next step for making your curriculum more brain compatible, what would I see you doing differently in your classes?

Introductions

Please tell us where you teach, what level, where you live, what you like to do outside your job and what is your favorite vacation destination. Thanks
